What are the underlying causes of thyroid problems? 

The underlying causes of thyroid problems are stress and grief, autoimmune disease, diet, an indoor sedentary lifestyle, toxins and an emotional connection.  

Stress and grief can often instigate thyroid malfunction, especially if they’re severe or long-standing. Autoimmune disease might be triggered by gluten in your diet, illness, environmental toxins, or hormonal transitions and imbalances. 

Living an indoor sedentary lifestyle discourages optimal thyroid health. The thyroid functions better when it’s exposed to changing temperatures, regular exercise and light (sunlight). Toxins, such as mercury and other toxins may also trigger a thyroid imbalance and autoimmune disease.
