Why should you drink peppermint tea after your meal?

Peppermint tea is one of my favorite teas to have after a meal. Its invigorating taste leaves my mouth feeling minty fresh. Aside from having fresh breath after a meal, it has additional health benefits.

Peppermint leaves are another classic carminative. What’s a carminative?  Carminatives improve digestion, dispel gas, eases bloating and acts as antispasmodics to relieve cramps and IBS. Please keep in mind that peppermint may aggravate reflux.

Besides peppermint tea aiding in digestive, it also invigorates the mind and spirit. It also clears the sinuses, relieves, coughs, quells nausea and eases some types of pain such as headaches. In aromatherapy, peppermint oil has been shown to improve many aspects of alertness and memory, including recall and reaction time.

So, if you want to wind down and relax after a meal or any time of day, make yourself a cup of peppermint tea.
