Ways to keep your bowel movements as smooth as possible 

Having a healthy bowel movement is key to your immunity. Constipation and or diarrhea can be very stressful and can lead to many other health issues.

Here are some tips to keep your bowel movements healthy:

·     Hydrate-Water keeps your GI tract functioning properly and aids with digestion. 

·     Reduce stress- Stress slows down gut motility which can lead to constipation. It can also aggravate chronic diarrhea due to IBS or IBD.

·     Address any food allergies or sensitivities- Get to the root cause of the problem. Food allergies or sensitives can aggravate your condition.

·     Obey the urge- Go to the bathroom as soon as you feel the urge to go. Listen to your body to avoid further aggravation.   

·     Add probiotics and fermented foods- Good gut flora helps push out gut pathogens and normalize bowel movements. 

·     Eat real whole foods- Eat fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, etc and increase your fiber intake.
