Jackfruit (artocarpus heterophyllus) also known as jack tree, is a tropical fruit belonging to the Moraceae family that also includes fig, mulberry and breadfruit.

Jackfruit is widely cultivated in the tropical regions in of the world, including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the rainforests of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia.

Several parts of the jack tree including fruit, leaves, and barks has been used in traditional medicine due to its anti-carcinogenic, antimicrobial, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, wound healing and hypoglycemic properties.

Jackfruit contains essential vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin B6, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, magnesium, copper, manganese and phosphorus.
