Nutmeg contains essential vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, manganese, copper, phosphorus, zinc, and iron.

Nutmeg has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Test tube studies have shown that nutmeg is effective against potentially harmful bacteria including E. Coli and Streptococcus mutans. Nutmeg oil is commonly found in several dental products to help fight oral pathogens.

Nutmeg may boost your libido and enhance sexual performance. In traditional medicine, nutmeg has been used to treat sexual disorders but more research is needed.

Nutmeg may also promote brain health, heart health, digestion and improve sleep.

Nutmeg is safe in small amounts however as little as 2 teaspoons can cause some symptoms of toxicity. Nutmeg toxicity can cause serious symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, nausea, disorientation, vomiting, and hallucinations.
