Health Benefits of Cauliflower

Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable relating to broccoli, cabbage and kale. Cauliflower is considered to be from ancient Asia but re-emerged in the Mediterranean region and arrived in Europe in the late 15th century.

Cauliflower comes in several colors including white, green, purple and orange.

Cauliflower is a nutrient dense vegetable with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Cauliflower has essential vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, vitamin B6, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous and fiber.

Cauliflower has a high fiber and water content that promotes digestive health. Cauliflower may also promote weight loss.

Cauliflower may also lower blood pressure levels and cholesterol levels.

Cauliflower may also reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity.

Cauliflower may also boost brain function and promote bone health.

Cauliflower may also help balance your hormones by reducing high levels of estrogen. Too much estrogen is associated with health issues including hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue, ovarian cancer and other autoimmune diseases.

Cauliflower may also reduce the risk of cancer. Cruciferous vegetables are rich in cancer fighting compounds such as glucosinolates, sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol. Studies have shown that these compounds help lower the risk of cancer.

Cauliflower may also promote eye health and improve circulation.

As always, consult with your physician.
