Celery seed comes from the vegetable celery (Apium graveolens) belonging to the Apicaeae family native to the Mediterranean region. Celery seed has been used for medicinal for thousands of years to treat bronchitis, water retention, poor digestion, different types of arthritis, certain diseases of the liver and spleen, skin disorders and the cold and flu. Celery seed has been used for culinary purposes and as a supplement.

Celery seed has essential vitamins and minerals including calcium, zinc, manganese, iron, magnesium and phosphorus.   

Celery seed has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help fight free radicals in the body and may help prevent the risk of chronic diseases.
